The Hunt Ball

October 13, 2009

Preparations are under way for the annual Blue Ridge Hunt Ball.  As is traditional, the ball will be held the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 27th.  The ball committee is excited to announce that this year's ball will be held in Clarke County, at historic Rosemont in Berryville.

Rosemont was built in the early 1800s (1811) and was owned by the iconic Virginia political family, the Byrds, for most of the 20th century.  The estate is situated on the outskirts of Berryville and has beautiful grounds stretching over 50 acres.  The breathtaking view from Rosemont's portico overlooks manicured grounds filled with specimen trees planted in the 1930's by the Byrd family.  The house itself is a stunning example of the Greek Revival architectural style and is in remarkable condition.  Adjacent to the house is a carriage house, a beautiful space for dancing and entertaining.

We plan to have cocktails and dinner in the historic house.  We will then move to the carriage house for a short entertainment program, drinks, and dancing to a fabulous band from Charlottesville.  Plans are also underway for a silent auction in the carriage house.

If you can come up with something to donate to the silent auction, please contact Ross Mulry at 540-336-6236 or Jenny Irwin at 202-664-4664.  We hope everyone will make a direct effort to support the auction.  It will raise money for a pastime that we all enjoy and share together.  We welcome all donations!  If you would like to donate but cannot think of anything, please contact Ross or Jenny, and we will help you come up with an idea!!

Save the date and please respond early, seating will be limited!!!
